Primary 1 Homework Week Beginning 23rd November

Hello everyonešŸ˜!

I would like to start by saying a big well done to all of you for taking part in last week’s North Lanarkshire Sumdog contest! You all worked so hard and tried your very best.

774 classes took part and our class finished in 116th place!šŸ†

This week your child has been set tasks for Monday, TuesdayĀ andĀ WednesdayĀ night.Ā To keep us all safe, we have decided that all completed work should be kept at home (until further notice). Please remember to send back theĀ clear zippy wallet empty on Tuesday and return your reading bookĀ onĀ Thursday.

Could you please encourage your child to practise their reading book each night.Ā šŸ“–

Addition

We have learned all of the addition facts forĀ  2, 3, 4 and 5. Children are encouraged to memorise these facts for rapid random recall.

Use practical materials at home to show all theĀ  different ways to makeĀ 2, 3, 4 and 5. You could use pegs, toy cars, playdough or playing cards.

Remember Jack Hartmann is always there to help if you get stuck. Just search Number Bonds for 2, 3, 4 and 5.

  1. Use your word tin to practise your common words. When you look at each word, read the word and then spell it out loud.
  2. Can you think of aĀ sentenceĀ for each of your common words this week? Tell an adult your sentences and see if they can spot which common word you have used in each sentence.
  3. Choose a task of your choice from the menu below, to help you practise this weekā€™s common words. Have fun!
