Primary 5 3rd April 2020

Good morning Primary 5,

I hope that you are all well and looking after yourselves. Mrs Haughey has been telling me how busy you have been.

Continue working on your coordinates. Here is a link to the maths game that we didn’t get time to play in class.

https://www.mathsisfun.com/data/click-coordinate.html
Remember
*the horizontal axis (the “along axis) is called the x-axis
*the vertical axis (the “up” axis) is called the y-axis

Pictures can be drawn using coordinates.
If you have squared paper here is one to try:
Make a coordinate grid (Cartesian coordinate grid)
Remember to plot the points in order and join them up as you move from one point to the next.

Highest x-coordinate 15
Highest y-coordinate 10
(2,4)(2,1)(7,1)(13,4)(13,7)(7,4)(2,4)(8,7)(13,7)Stop
(7,1)(7,4)Stop
You could try to make your own picture and test the coordinates on a family member.

I hope that you have remembered all of the information that we have learned about cleanliness, hygiene and safety in the kitchen. This is a link to a game where you can test your skills.

In Spanish we have been learning about food and drink. This is a link to the video we have watched. There are some activities attached to it which you could try, but you don’t have to. Practise your Spanish with food in your kitchen, like the girl in the video.

Sunday is Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week.
This link will let you see how they celebrate Holy Week in Spain.

I think that you have deserve Golden Time today 🥇

During the Easter holiday there will be no official blogs from teachers. However, you can still keep busy with the many of activities that have been suggested over the last few weeks.

We wish you a relaxing break.

Stay safe🌈
! Feliz Pascua !🐣 Mrs Goodwin

Friday 3rd April 2020

Good Morning Primary 3,

Happy Friday! Today is usually when we do our spelling test. As we are revising phoneme sounds and common words that we have already learned, I would like you to choose one week from the list and test yourself. You may want to write them down or spell them out loud. This is a good way to know which words we need to have another look at. If you haven’t got your spelling list yet please get in touch. (mcmullenke@st-barbaras.n-lanark.sch.uk)

It looks like it’s going to be a lovely day so try and get some fresh air and a bit of exercise today.

At 11:00am a Sumdog maths challenge is going to begin.  This will run until 3:00pm and I will announce the winner. Good luck!

Over the next 2 weeks try and have a well deserved rest. You have all been working extremely hard. I know it isn’t the kind of holiday we are used to but let’s try and make the most of spending some time at home with our family. I am planning to read a new book and go for some nice walks. I look forward to hearing what you get up to.

Keep checking the blog over the holiday as Mrs McKinney is going to be uploading some Easter activities for you to have a look at.

I’m wishing you all a safe, happy and holy Easter and I will speak to you all very soon.

Miss McMullen x

Happy Friday!!

Good Morning Everyone!

Primary 4/3 can you believe that is another week of home learning nearly over.    I hope you are all well and looking after yourselves.  I have been very impressed by the work completed online, lots of you have now had the chance to try out the spelling and reading on Sumdog.  I would like to see more of you on Studyladder and First News.  Come on, give them a try if you have not been on yet!  If you are having problems logging in to any of the resources please drop me an email – SBoyce@st-barbaras.n-lanark.sch.uk and I will help you to get signed on.

This morning we would have been going along to First Friday mass with the school.  I hope you can take some time out of your day to say a little prayer for all of the people that are ill and in need of a little prayer. 🙏

Once you have completed your literacy, numeracy and health and well-being tasks for today I thought you would like to see the Easter cards we would have made in class as we finish for our Easter holiday!   I have attached the video for you to watch.  I hope that some of you might be able to try them out.  I am sure it would make a lovely surprise for someone in your family!

Remember to ask an adult to upload your finished cards to Twitter if you get the chance to make one.

Well boys and girls, Mrs Graham and I are missing you all so much and we hope that you have a lovely Easter holiday.  Remember to get as much exercise as you can, stay safe and relax over the holiday!!  You will be able to take a well earned break from your home learning until the 20th of April.

Wishing you and your families a Happy and Holy Easter. 🐰🐰

Friday 3rd April- Primary 7

Good morning Primary 7,

It is Friday again which means that you have completed 2 full weeks of home learning. Well done as I know it can be tricky to focus and concentrate on school tasks in an environment out with the classroom.

Let’s start today with a prayer. Close your eyes say our morning prayer and an Our Father.

Remember you have a few hours left to take part in the Sum Dog maths competition. The leader board is looking very close between a few pupils. I will post the name of the winner at the end of the day.

Complete the maths problems below, remember to read the questions carefully.

Maths Problems- Friday

Being active is a great way to keep you feeling positive! Complete a Joe Wicks workout. Go to the ‘P.E. with Joe’ section and let’s keep fit.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

Here is a challenge for you all – can you create your own workout routine and get your family to join in?

To develop your spelling skills and expand your vocabulary select some challenging words from some books/newspapers/magazines, explore their definitions and select appropriate spelling strategies such as syllabification, phonological knowledge, word patterns, mnemonics, spelling rules etc. to ensure correct spelling.

Work hard today Primary 7 and I will post again this afternoon.

Mrs Butler 🙂

Primary 6 – Friday 3rd April

Good morning Primary 6,

Hey, have you noticed? It’s Friday, the best day of the week! No school tomorrow!

You only have to wear your uniforms today and then tomorrow you can dress any way you like.

You all have been wearing your uniforms, right?

.

.

.

Wait, you haven’t been wearing your uniforms?

Well, honestly!

Here is the solution to yesterday’s maths starter.

I got up this morning at 8:15 am. I arrived at the computer at 8:55 am and stopped work for my break at 10:50 am. Lunch was 1:00 pm until 1:50 pm. I finished for the day at 4:35 pm and went to bed at 10:45 pm.

How did you get on?

Let me know in the comments. You can tweet your answers to any of the challenges @St_BarbarasPS and I’ll be able to see them or you can hit the “Leave a reply.” button at the bottom of these posts.

Here’s Cressida Cowell reading Chapter 9 of, “How to Train your Dragon.”

Hiccup and Fishlegs are really struggling to train their dragons. Hiccup has been keeping a notebook of the methods for training Toothless that he has tried. None of them are working but he does not want to try, “Jokes and Riddling Talk” unless he really has to. Why do you think this is?

By the end of the chapter we discover that dragons love jokes. What do you think a dragon joke is like? Try to write a dragon joke.

Old Wrinkly thinks they are all worried about the wrong thing and the test is, “piddly.”

What does Old Wrinkly know that the others have missed?

Here is a spelling starter for today. How many words can you make from these letters?

Y  R  E  A  T  I  N  T  C

They also make a nine letter word. Can you work out what it is?

Good Luck

Mr. McIntosh

Friday 3rd April- Primary 1b

Good morning Primary 1b 🙂

It’s Friday, Happy Friday! You have nearly completed your second week of home learning. If you work really hard today, I will make you a deal!

If you complete some of today’s tasks and listen carefully to your mums and dads, then you can have the next two weeks off from school work. DEAL🤝?Lets get started on today’s tasks then!

Today is your last chance to compete in our class Sumdog maths competition. Lots of you took part yesterday and the leader board keeps changing, it’s very close. The competition closes at 2.30pm and shortly after I will announce our maths champion🏆 Who will it be? You only have a few hours left so Go, Go, Go🏃🏻‍♂️🏃‍♀️!

Holy week begins this Sunday. This is a very important week leading up to Easter. Today I would like you to watch and listen carefully to The Story of Easter.  This will help you to understand the importance of Easter and why it is such a special celebration.

After you have watched and listened to the Easter story, I would like you to draw a picture and write a few sentences to show what you have learnt.

If we were in school today we would have been making some Easter cards so why don’t you try making one at home to give to your family or friends? I have posted some ideas below to help get you started but feel free to use your imagination. 🐣

I know it has been tough staying at home but READING gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are. Today I would like you to choose a book in your house and find a quiet and comfy place for you to read. Where will your story take you?  🏠📚

Keep an eye out, I will be back later on in the afternoon with another little message and to announce our competition winner.

Have a great day boys and girls!

Miss McEleney 😀
