Primary 7

This week in P7 – 2.6.25

P6/7 worked hard this week to perfect their performance in the school show.  They sang, danced, acted and totally WOWed in their Pitbull and Guests extravaganza!

Primary 6/7 Snapshot – 22.5.25

This week P6/7 enjoyed their trip to the North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre. We took part in a World War II workshop where we learned all about rationing and air raids. We even got the chance to use a real WWII siren. During our visit we enjoyed learning about the history of North Lanarkshire as we completed a scavenger hunt in the ‘tower through time’ and created our own landscape drawings of North Lanarkshire from the top of the viewing platform.

Golden Book – 20.5.25

Miss R had the best time with the Primary 6/7 and 7 golden bookers. They shared so many impressive facts about their IDL Colombia topic. From the culture, diet, history to geographical facts, Miss R was blown away by their knowledge. They also shared their algebra learning, teaching her how to add, subtract and simplify expressions and equations. Thank you for sharing this with me, well done to everyone for your hard work!

12.5.25

This week in P6/7 has been one to remember. We first of all would like to thank all of the wonderful local sports coaches for taking the time to share their skills with us. This week we were lucky enough to experience a mixture of sports including handball, BMXing and MMA. We also have enjoyed participating in a number of GHS transition events in preparation for high school. This week we have also been learning about Body Image and the impact that the media can play on how we feel about ourselves. We know that we are all unique and wonderful as we are and are working on remembering to always treat ourselves with kindness, just as we would for others.

5.5.25

This week P6/7 have enjoyed health week. We have been appreciative of all the wonderful sports coaches who have volunteered their time to share their skills with us. This week we have learned from coaches about Rugby, Golf and Yoga. We are looking forward to more opportunities to develop our physical and mental health next week.

21.4.25

P6/7 have been back with a bang for the first week of term 4. We have started a new topic all about World War II. We have planned for our learning completing our class ‘Think, Puzzle, Explore’ and event taken part in a writing competition based on V.E. day inspired by the experiences of children in the war. On Friday some of our P7s attended the Greenfauld’s Multisports Day as part of transition. They enjoyed taking part in lots of different activities led by the GHS sports leaders. This was a great opportunity to get to know teachers and new classmates ahead of our 2 day visit next month.

Week beginning 31.3.25

P6/7 have been making the most of our final week of term 3. This week we said ‘mars sin leat’ to Mr Wilson who has been teaching our P7 pupils gaelic this year. We have made the most of the beautiful weather, taking our learning and brain breaks outside. This week in maths we have been measuring and drawing angles using a protractor. We also enjoyed our media study, ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and some of us even began exploring ‘BGE English’ activities in preparation for high school. We hope everyone has a brilliant spring break and look forward to a busy final term full of lots of learning and fun.

Week beginning 24.3.25

P6/7 have started learning about angles this week in maths. We can measure a variety of angles using a protractor and describe them according to their size. We enjoyed getting active this week playing a new sport called Boccia which required us to consider our knowledge of accuracy, force and strategy to gain the most points for our team. This week, we have also continued with our IDL topic all about Colombia where we compared the geography of the country with that of Scotland. We would also like to say a huge well done to our team of dancers who took part in the North Lanarkshire Dance Mania competition.

17.3.25

P6/7 have been really challenging themselves this week in maths. We have been learning to solve for ‘x’ in algebra and developing our problem solving skills using the ‘draw it out’ strategy. Through our IDL learning we have been developing our playful skills including creativity, teamwork and employability. Check out some of our wonderful drawings of Colombia’s national flower, the orchid. Lastly, in writing we are learning about information reports. This week we have been focussing on recording facts and information in our own words. We practised using a thesaurus to find synonyms to help us is with this before writing reports about a famous person of our choosing.

10.3.25

P6/7 have had a busy week. We have started our new Colombia topic. We have been learning lots about the geography of the country and the many different traditions which are followed there. In art we have continued our learning about tone and have been using the skills we are learning to make our drawings look 3D. In maths we continue to challenge ourselves as we learn about algebra and even celebrated Pi Day.

This week in P7…

Throughout this week, P6/7 have been working together to complete problem solving tasks using the create a picture or diagram strategy.  We have also started new maths topic focussing on Expressions and Equations which we are finding tricky but lots of fun.  Finally, as part of World Book Day joy, we have created our own corner bookmarks to make sure we don’t lose our page during our daily ERIC time.

Golden Book, December 2024

It was great to spend time today with this excellent bunch listening to their adventures at Fordell Firs and the enterprising activities for the Christmas fayre.  We chatted all about marketing, profits, sustainability and hard work.  They all recommend the residential trip and it was music to my ears that NOBODY missed technology.  Great job!

Golden Book, October 2024

Miss R had a fabulous time with a group of Primary 7 Golden Bookers, some of which are also our new House Captains! They shared the election campaign experience and their knowledge of the Scottish Parliament. It’s safe to say that Ravenswood are in good hands with this bunch!
