Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 2nd February
P5 have been preparing for Safer internet Day. We have been learning about the SMART rules for online safety. One of our talented pupils even created a comic book to share with the school.
We also continued to explore Space. We enjoyed a yummy way to learn about the phases of the moon. Informative AND delicious!
Primary 5 Golden Book – February
Primary 5 were a joy today at Golden Book with Mrs H! Today they chatted about Maths Shape learning as well as Expressive Arts. Mrs H was challenged to identify the faces, vertices and edges of various 3D shapes. They were buzzing about a challenging iPad game too that timed your ability to identify 2D shapes.
I loved hearing about the Glasgow City mural graffiti art tour, Mrs H would love to see them all on a nice sunny day. It was great to see their enthusiasm for Charles Rennie McIntosh and many, many more. Such brilliant learners to spend the afternoon with, thank you!
Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 12th January
P5 welcomed Miss Smyth back to our class this week. We have been learning about 2D shape and 3D objects with her. We took part in a shape hunt around our school, learned about the properties of different 2D shapes and even had a go at creating our own!
Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 5th January
P5 have started the term off learning all about Scottish art. We are exploring different Scottish artists this month, learning about their work and creating pieces that demonstrate their styles.
Golden Book – December
Mrs Whitton was delighted to chat to this enthusiastic bunch of Primary 5 Golden Book-ers! They were excited to share the success from their enterprise company, ‘Merry Grinchmas’. They explained roles of the different business teams, the importance of knowing your own skill set and how they plan on spending their £34.70 profit! They were also keen to share their learning on instructional writing, teaching Mrs Whitton how to write detailed, logical instructions. She will definitely be trying their hot chocolate instructions!

Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 8th December
P5 enjoyed our Christmas party and it had us feeling super festive!
We loved becoming the Home Alone sticky bandits and carrying out an experiment in variables to help the robbers steal the most money. We also designed our own Battle Plans to protect Ravenswood from Hank and Marv!
Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 24th November
This week, our Merry Grinchmas business came to life! We worked in our teams to advertise, create and sell our product “Grinchy Dough”. Thank you to everyone who came along to the fayre to support our brand. We had so much fun!
Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 17th November
P5 love learning about music with Mrs Ewart. We take part in Kodaly every fortnight and we use singing, moment, playing and creating to learn music. We are currently focusing on rhythm syllables, learning to speak, clap, read and write them. We have played bingo, headbands and Grapevine to practise these syllables.
We have also been preparing for our Christmas enterprise, creating a prototype batch of Grinchy Dough and creating a clear set on instructions to help us make more.

P5 had LOTS going on this week!
We learned strategies for multiplication in Maths, consolidated our spelling and sounds in Literacy, explored the celebration of Hanukkah in RME and we even started preparing for our Christmas enterprise.
P5 were also treated to delicious El Salvador dish from one of our very kind families. We LOVED them!

Happy Halloween from P5!
We celebrated with lots of fun activities throughout the week. We created Tim Burton style artwork with Mr Anderson, practised direct speech using a clip from The Addam’s Family, and even made spooky slime together.
We ended the week with a class Halloween party!
Golden Book
Primary 5’s Golden Book session was utterly fantastic! Everyone shared their detailed knowledge of their Ancient Egypt IDL Topic and tested Miss Purdon’s spelling ability with the wide range of new vocabulary they have learned! The class outing to the Tutankhamun experience sounded phenomenal, what a wonderful end to your block of learning. Maths Week in Primary 5 was also packed with a variety of learning experiences. Thank you for sharing your learning with me!

Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 20th October
P5 have been learning all about El Salvador! This week we learned why it is known as “The Land of Volcanoes” before carrying out our own lemon volcano experiments. We also had the chance to try some pupusas, a traditional El Salvadorian dish. DELICIOUS!

Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 29th September
This week Primary 5 went on a class trip to the SEC to immerse ourselves in Ancient Egypt!
We had so much fun exploring the different areas and learning more about our topic. Our highlights included the fully immersive cinema where we travelled down the Nile and learned all about Tutankhamun, using VR to discover what the afterlife would be like, watching a mummification through holograms and even turning ourselves into Pharaohs in the photobooth!
Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 21st September
It’s Maths Week!
This week Primary 5 have been embracing the “Maths in the Wild” theme. We learned about organic shapes in nature and used this to create fun shape art. We also learned the Fibonacci number sequence and how it appears in nature before writing Maths-themed poetry based on the Fibonacci pattern. P5 loved getting out “into the wild” to join in with outdoor Maths. We also enjoyed participating in the Maths Week Live Lesson with Super Questers!
Weekly Snapshot – Week beginning 15th September
This week in P5, we have been busy with our own personal projects to consolidate our Ancient Egypt topic. We made leaflets, posters or PowerPoints to share all of the amazing things we’ve learned. P5 have also been busy learning lots of new common words in spelling and we have started exploring addition and subtraction strategies in Maths.

P5 have been very busy learning week!
We have been continuing to explore place value in Maths, focusing on decimal numbers this week. We also loved using Minecraft Education to build Egyptian tombs from our story, A Mummy Ate My Homework. We checked on our mummified apples and also learned how to write hieroglyphics.

What a busy week in P5!
Our highlights included learning all about recycling and creating sustainable fashion with Miss Purdon. We also found out all about the “Boy King” Tutankhamun and made our own death masks (ask us why these were so important for pharaohs!). Then we used salt to mummify apples. We can’t wait to unwrap them in 2 weeks to see what they look like!

This week has been fun-filled and full of learning in P5!
Our highlights included exploring how numbers are made and the value of digits within a number. We also continued our Ancient Egyptian topic by finding out more about the people who lived there and why The Nile was so important.

Primary 5 had a fantastic first week filled with learning, play and fun!
Our highlights included exploring the Mystery Bag full of clues about our new Ancient Egyptian topic (including something smelly!), taking part in STEM challenges to promote good communication and teamwork, starting our new class novel study “A Mummy Ate My Homework” and LOTS OF PLAY with our friends.
