Highland Dancing in p1/2

As part of our work on Scotland we wanted to learn more about Scottish Dancing. Mrs Simpson is a highland dance teacher and is giving us some beginners lessons. This week we learned that highland dancing requires stamina! We also learned 1st and 2nd positions of feet and hands.

Ravenswood Rights Team 2016

The Ravenswood Rights Team meet every Tuesday at 1.15pm with Mrs Wilson in our Reflection Room. Every week a member of the Rights Team will upload a copy of the minutes from our meeting. This will allow us to share our ideas and plans with our whole school community. Please add any comments or ideas for competitions or assemblies to one of our pupil voice boxes. Or speak to your class rights team representative 🙂

We will further discuss from our last meeting a competition which will encourage our whole school to learn about rights.

We will help everyone enjoy their right to play by establishing and running a Friendship Centre in our playground.

We will use our school blog to share the minutes of our weekly meetings so our whole school community learns about our work as a rights respecting school.

We will announce the competition at assembly next Thursday.

We will plan games for our Friendship centre.  We will make a rota to start the Friendship Centre tomorrow in the playground. We will talk about how we can ensure our Friendship centre is a success and helps everyone enjoy their rights.

Artwork inspired by Kate McLelland

As part of our Scotland topic, we read the book “There was a Wee Lassie who swallowed a Midgie.”

We love the pictures and in February the illustrator, Kate McLelland is going to visit primary 1 and primary 1/2.

Today in primary 1/2, we looked closely at some of her artwork and were inspired to try some of our own.

We love the ending to "There was a wee lassie who swallowed a midgie"
