Primary 2

Maths – addition, subtraction & time

  • Who wants to be a billionaire? Ask children to compose their own addition and subtraction questions for a quiz, giving four possible answers for each question (including the correct answer). Encourage them to create questions that can be solved by counting on or back from the first number and to use a variety of language and symbols.
  • Collecting dates – ask your child to collect some key dates from their family or friends, e.g. Dad’s birthday is 5th March, we go on holiday on 10th Can they find them on a calendar?
  • Active Learn – Continue to work through the game  assigned to your account.

Literacy –  phonics, reading and common words

  • Phonics – magic e

Write down some examples of magic e words in your jotter.

  • Reading – Read your book every night and remember to bring it in to school the next day.
  • Common Words – Continue to practise the words on your word wall. Can you find any of these words in your reading book this week?

  • Contractions – This week we have begun to look at contractions.  Explain to someone at home what a contraction is.
  • Reading – Read your book every night and remember to bring it in to school the next day.   Can you find any contractions in your reading book or a book at home?
  • Spelling –  Practise spelling the days of the week.
