First Minister’s Reading Challenge

The first week of the programme was very exciting, the parents and children thought of lots of great ideas of how to involve everyone in the village in the programme, working parents was one of the groups disscussed.

Over the next few weeks the group will contact lots of different people in the village as part of the planning of how can we be involved in the FM Reading Challenge in Plains.

All parents, children and community members will be invited to an event on the afternoon of Friday 25th November where the group will present the new ideas of programmes that will be available in the village in the new year as a spin off from the consultation carried out  for the First Ministers Reading Challange.

I am sure there will be some great opportunities available in Plains in the new year.

Helen McKay (CLD Parent Worker) is leading the challenge to increase reading in the village of Plains. Parents are invited to come to a fun session with their P4-7 child on Tuesday afternoons between 1.30-2.50pm. If you are able to come, please sign up to help plan fun events to increase reading in the community.

As part of this work, there are plans to open a Parent’s Library in the school. If you have any books you could donate for this purpose, please hand them into the school and they will be passed to Helen.
