We worked hard to learn our songs, words and parts for our body systems assembly. We performed it today and we have to admit we think that we were pretty brilliant!

Primary 5 had a fantastic time celebrating world book day. We participated in a number of activities. We read a non fiction passage about the Titanic and made our own fact file on it. We participated in the design a bookmark competition and we took part in a whole school reading quiz. We are looking forward to our author visit tomorrow.
Here are some pictures of us dressed up. Do you recognise any of the book characters?

This week in Primary 5 we developed our skills in report writing at taught writing time. We wrote non chronological reports about earthquakes.
In Maths we continued to develop our understanding of money and looked at money word problems. We looked for the important information in each problem and highlighted it before solving the problem.
Example
Ben and Adam went to Argos. Ben bought Pie Face which cost £16.99 and Adam bought Buckaroo which cost £7.99.
How much money did they spend altogether?
During our time at the Sir Matt Busby Centre we put the finishing touches to our street dance routine. Next week will be our last session at the Sir Matt Busby Centre; we are looking forward to performing our completed street dance routine in this session.
Next week as part of our natural disasters topic we are going to be learning about tsunamis. In Maths we are going to be looking at time.

What an exciting week we have had in Primary 5. This week we continued to look at subtraction. We used formal methods of subtraction to complete tasks (chimney sums) and we practised subtracting 11 by using the strategy -10 then -1
Here are a few comments about our learning.
“I’m getting a lot better at it” FN
“I like doing chimney sums” DM
We also started our new topic ‘Natural Disasters’.
In Literacy we started new novels and in story writing we wrote a recount about our October holidays.
“I enjoyed Literacy because I like my book” LW
“I was excited to write about Blackpool” KD
We also had a super time on Friday. We participated in Kodaly music whilst dressed in our Halloween costumes.
Below are a selection of photos from Friday. We hope that you like them.
