Update 20.03.20

We are awaiting updates from North Lanarkshire Council.  Our school will be open to the children of Key Workers, however the Key Workers will be clarified by NLC over the weekend.

20.03.20

To our OLSF family, friends and neighbours,

It has been a rollercoaster week and I cannot thank you enough for your support and understanding.  We have closed our doors to some of you, without knowing when we will see you again.  The staff will miss each and every child and I would like to pass on my best wishes to all our families. Stay safe and healthy and I pray to Our Lady and St Francis that we meet again, sooner rather than later.

Take care and God bless

Thank you to Mr Rankin, who organised our STEM week.  With the help of Mrs Wilson and Mrs Miller the children enjoyed a very successful week, which included a visit from The Glasgow Science Centre, World of Work Big Play and finished with The Great Aeroplane Challenge.  Please have a look at our photographs on twitter.

Our pre-school nursery children had their final visit to Primary 1.  They settled into the routines very quickly and enjoyed being reunited with some of their friends from last year.  The next time they visit P1 will be as part of the Primary One induction in May.

Two of our P6 children represented our school at a K’nex Challenge in Taylor High School on Thursday.  They were amazing and their behaviour was exemplary.  Thank you, boys.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Our Euroquiz team came second on Friday and were pipped at the post by two points.  Our team was lead by Mrs Taggart, who worked with the children over the last few weeks after school to ensure they were up-to-date.  Well done, girls and Mrs Taggart.  You have made everyone so proud.

We started our Holy Rosary this week and together we have said 103 decades.  We have on average 18 children everyday who have dedicated 10 minutes of their morning to offering up a rosary for someone else.  Thank you to all the boys and girls who have participated so far.

Thursday was World Book Day and although we are having a Book Week towards the end of the month we did a few activities in class.

In preparation for First Friday Mass, Paul Carroll came to the school and taught the children a few new hymns. They sang beautifully at First Friday Mass and we followed this by a very successful Coffee Morning.  Thank you to our Glee Choir who performed for our visitors.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and I will see you all tomorrow.
