Assessment & Reporting

Assessment

Teachers are continually assessing children’s work to obtain information, which enables them to make professional judgments about pupils’ progress, which will inform the planning for learning and teaching in the classroom.

Assessment is for Learning (AifL) is an important part of assessment in our school. Learners learn best when they:

  • understand clearly what they are trying to learn, and what is expected of them
  • are given feedback about the quality of their work and what they can do to make it better
  • are given advice about how to go about making improvements
  • are fully involved in deciding what needs to be done next, and who can give them help if they need it.

Reporting to Parents

There are three parent interviews to discuss pupil progress throughout the year. These are held in October, February and May. Children will be issued with an interim report in October and a summative report is issued in May. We have an open door policy and parents should feel welcome in school at any time. However, in the interests of good security, we ask that all visitors report to the school office when visiting the school so that we are always aware of who is in the building. This is necessary for the children’s safety and in the event of an emergency.
