Week Ending 20th January 2017
Last week we learned about all things financial in school for Financial Education Week. The children were set a challenge – what’s the best way to spend £20 – and Mrs Shearer will decide the winning entry this week and announce at assembly. The winning entry will win the £20 to spend, so good luck everyone!
We also had infant registration last week and it was lovely to meet some of the new families and children that will be joining us in August.
Some of our P7 pupils represented us well at an Athletics Competition on Friday.
For our week ahead, our P6 pupils will be visiting Taylor High School on Thursday for a health and well-being event. Letters were issued last week with further information on this.
Last term’s house winners, St. Elizabeth, are being treated to a visit to Motherwell Heritage Centre for a ‘sweetie’ workshop; letters will be issued on Monday for this.
Our after school clubs recommence for term 3 this week and lots of activities are on offer.
As always, if you have any comments or suggestions for our blog, please let us know.

Chilli the Snowman
At snack time, we iced biscuits to make them look like Chilli from Dot McStuffin. Â They tasted great too!

Finding Patterns
The children have been looking at patterns. Â They looked at soles of shoes and boots and used them for painting! Â They made fish bowls and added patterns to the fish and made patterns in the sand tray.

Week Ending 13th January 2017
Week one in term 3 was a busy and successful one. On Tuesday we held Sacramental Information Meetings for P3 and P4 parents and these were well attended. We welcomed a Spanish assistant to work with P6 pupils on Wednesday, and on Thursday, John Wilson took whole class photographs. Our first snow of 2017 fell on Thursday, and pupils and teachers seized the opportunity for outdoor play and learning. Children have enjoyed exploring our new trim trail this week; fingers crossed for more dry weather so they can continue to enjoy it.
For our week ahead, it’s Financial Education Week and children will be learning about lots of money/financial related themes in class. It is also Infant Registration Week – if you, or anyone you know, is eligible to register for P1 in August 2017, please come along to OLSF any afternoon this week between 1.30pm and 3pm. Athletics finals take place on Friday and Mr Duffy will be taking pupils to Ravenscraig for this event.
