Our nursery children visited the Transport Museum on Thursday and had a great time.

Looking to our week ahead, our Primary 7 pupils will be visited by Mr Mark Dorris from Taylor High School on Monday morning.  On Wednesday, our Primary 4 pupils will visit the Church as part of their First Holy Communion preparations, and Primary 5 will continue with their swimming lessons.

Friday is the last day of our school before our May Day holiday; on Monday 1st May the school will be closed to pupils and parents for the bank holiday.  Please also note, Thursday 4th May is an in-set day as our school is used as a polling station.

We are in the midst of collecting ‘Rag-Bags’ to raise funds for our school.  If you have any unwanted clothing etc. please hand in your bags this week as they will be being collected very soon.

Our Primary 1 pupils were absolute superstars at their assembly on Thursday afternoon and there were a few proud and emotional mums at their performance.

Our Senses

The children have been developing their knowledge of their senses.

We have been using our ears to listen to different sounds that instruments make and were able to identify them.   While using the feely bag, we identified items by touch.  During our taste test, we were trying to differentiate between different flavours of crisps.  Some of us weren’t very sure so had to taste some more!! We used our sight and smell while making samosas for snack and enjoyed tasting them too.

A Wonderful Week in Nursery

We have been busy learning about “Our Senses” this week. Some of us went on a listening walk to the Grotto, where we heard lots of different sounds and could identify them.

Afterwards we went into the centre to have our snack and even spread our own toast.
The karate instructor came to visit and taught us lots of different moves. We listened and followed the different instructions he gave us.
The workmen have been busy working on our outdoor area and the new walkway. We went out for a look and identified lots of different machinery and noises, while outside we also noticed the new spring flowers and enjoyed their smell.

Nursery

While developing our movement skills through practise and energetic play, we used the hula hoops outdoors in different ways. We worked in pairs to encourage turn taking and sharing skills.
We also took part in some Yoga this week in small groups. This allowed us to see the different ways we could move our bodies. Everyone enjoyed the calming music while focusing on their balance and posture.
