You may have seen on twitter we have been focusing on Fairtrade this week.  The boys and girls have learned about Fairtrade and our P3 class ran a raffle and raised £103.40 for the Fairtrade Foundation.  Thank you to Mr Rankin, who led Fairtrade week and arranged the raffle too.

On Monday our morning nursery children started getting lunch in our dinner hall.  This is part of the preparation for the 1140 Expansion.  So far they have tried many different new foods and have sat together like a proper nursery family.  Next, they will be learning how to put their dishes away and tidy up.  Such responsible citizens!

Wednesday marked the start of Lent.  The children went to the Ash Wednesday Mass and have been learning about Lent in their classes.  As part of our preparation for Easter, there will be many events happening over the next few weeks.  Check the newsletter and twitter for these.

On Thursday night our Glee children, along with Mrs Cahill, Miss Newall, Mrs Anderson and Miss Lewis, attended the annual Glee Competition for our region.  The children performed beautifully and were the youngest choir there.  They sang two songs, Light Up and Rule the World, and shone like stars, literally – the children had new glittery        t-shirts with a sparkly star on the back.  Over the last 6 weeks, Mrs Cahill and Miss Newall have worked hard with the children, teaching them songs and dances.  They have both given up their lunchtime for many weeks to design and make the t-shirts.  We cannot thank them enough for their time and dedication to Glee.  Thank you, Ladies!

We have had a busy week in OLSF this week and a busy week to come.  Read all about next week’s events in our ‘What’s Happening in OLSF?’ post.  I hope everyone had a restful weekend.  A final good luck to our dancers who are performing in the Civic Centre on Sunday night.

Miss Lewis
