What a week we have had! Our football team had a friendly match at Newarthill Primary School on Monday after school and our Primary 1 pupils had a trip to Calder Glen on Tuesday. Wednesday evening saw our third and final Parents’ Evening of this session and the feedback from the evening was overwhelmingly positive. 98% of our parents are happy with our new format, therefore this will continue next year. Our Primary 4 children participated in NL’s Primary Games on Thursday and we had a relatively ‘quiet’ day on Friday…. this gave us all the chance to recharge our batteries for the first ever Summer Fayre in OLSF on Saturday.
What a day we had on Saturday! The school was quite literally buzzing and children and adults alike had a fantastic day (and the weather held for us too!) We raised a MASSIVE £2684 and this money will directly benefit every child in our school. We couldn’t have had such a successful day were it not for the hard work and dedication of our Parent Council, who worked tirelessly to ensure that it was a success. A huge thank you must also go to our parent helpers who gave so willingly of their time too on the day. Lastly, but by no means least, a huge thank you must go to the dedicated staff team at OLSF, who happily gave up their Saturday to help out at various stalls and activities. What a team we have in OLSF; there really is nowhere like Carfin and we are truly blessed at the strong and successful partnership we have with our parents and wider community.
Looking to our week ahead, it is quite a quiet week in comparison to recent very busy ones. Our main event this week is our P7 Leavers’ Mass and assembly on Friday. All parents are welcome to attend our Mass on Friday at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, however, due to physical capacity in our hall, it is only our P7 parents and families (and invited guests) that will be able to attend the Assembly afterwards in our school hall. Our P7s have been practising hard for this and will no doubt shine on stage one last time before they head off to High School in a few weeks.
