Our Lady and St. Francis Primary School

Week Ending 3rd June 2016

We have just finished a fabulous health fortnight, with fabulous weather to match!  Our children enjoyed a variety of activities from professional coaches, and it all culminated in Sports’ Day on Friday.  Sports’ Day was a huge success, in no small part due to our fantastic army of parent helpers; we really couldn’t do it without you and really appreciate the time that you give so willingly to our school.  A big congratulations must also go to our Fairtrade Committee, the 2016 winners of Sports’ Day!

Last week our choir sang at Wishaw General Hospital as part of Dementia Awareness Week, and as always, sang beautifully.  Our P7s wore yellow on Wednesday and walked round Strathclyde Park to raise funds for St. Andrew’s Hospice.  We also had our final infant induction last week, and our new P1s were absolute stars!

For our week ahead, our football team will be playing a friendly match on Monday after school, accompanied by Mr Maxwell and Mr Duffy.  Our P7s will have their photographs taken on Tuesday for the Motherwell Times – full school uniforms please.

Our P1s are off on a trip on Tuesday to Calderglen Park and we are hoping our beautiful weather holds for this.  Children can wear their own (suitable) clothes for this and bring a snack and lunch; a packed lunch will be provided by the school for those who requested it.

Wednesday evening sees our final Parents’ Evening for the year.  Final written reports will be issued on Monday, with a parental comments section; please take a moment to fill this part in and bring it with you to Parent’s Evening on Wednesday.  Appointment times will be issued on Tuesday.

On Thursday, our P4 pupils will participate in NLC’s Primary Games at Ravenscraig.  A letter was issued with full details of this on Friday.

On Saturday, we are having our Summer Fayre from 10am until 2pm; again we are hoping for good weather.  There are lots of fantastic stalls and activities organised for this and we are hoping for a good turnout.  We are still looking for raffle and tombola prizes; any gifts will be gratefully received.  We are also looking for donations of home baking – if you can help out at all, please contact the school office.
