Our Lady and St. Francis Primary School

Week Ending 20th May 2016

Another busy week here at OLSF!  Our Virgin Media volunteers came back to continue painting our railings.  They have done a great job so far, but haven’t quite finished.  If you can spare an hour or two and would like to help by finishing painting the railings for us, please contact the school office.  We will provide all the materials (and will even throw in a cuppa!)

Some of our staff were fortunate enough to visit North Lanarkshire Council’s Learning Festival and hear the esteemed Sir John Jones speak; he was truly inspirational.  We hope some of our parents managed to attend this popular annual event.

On Friday, P1 and Nursery had a joint ‘Teddy Bears’ Picnic’ – they took part in lots of fun ‘teddy’ related activities and all sponsor money will be donated to St. Andrew’s Hospice – a very worthwhile local charity.  Pictures to follow…..

On Saturday, the remainder of our P4 pupils made the Sacrament of First Holy Communion – despite the forecast, the sun shone for them and as always, they did us proud!  Many thanks to Father McGachey for a beautiful Mass and to Miss Campbell and Mrs Donnelly for preparing the children so well.

For our week ahead, it is a four day week as it is a holiday weekend.  Health fortnight begins and children will participate in a variety of planned activities – look out for the pictures on twitter throughout the next fortnight.  Our infant inductions begin this week – our new P1 pupils and their parents are invited to attend school on Wednesday afternoon to meet with their teacher and their new classmates.  Our P7s are also going to visit Taylor High School this week on Wednesday and Thursday for their induction days.

We are still looking for some volunteers for our upcoming Sports’ Day on Friday 3rd of June, so if you can spare a few hours, please contact the school office.

Our choir have also been asked to perform at Wishaw General Hospital on Wednesday 1st of June at 10am and again, we are looking for volunteers to travel with the children to and from the Hospital; please contact the school office if you can help out.
