Our Lady and St. Francis Primary School

Week Ending 22nd January 2016

We had a very successful Financial Education week last week.  Our children listened to visitors from Newarthill Credit Union and Lloyds Bank, and experienced lots of activities that were money related.

Mrs Crooks’ P7 class and P6 choir members recorded the song that they wrote as part of their song writing project; they also recorded a song from our upcoming show, Alice in Wonderland.  CDs will be going on sale at some point in the next few weeks, and we think you will be impressed!

Our P4/5 children visited the Science Centre to launch the Clyde in the Classroom project.  They now know exactly how to care for their trout when they arrive in school.  You will see lots of updates and pictures on twitter as the project takes place.

For our week ahead, our P7 children will have a visit from Mr Dorris from the Maths Department at Taylor High.  He will work in class with them as part of our transition programme.

Rehearsals for Alice in Wonderland will continue, including during the after school club.  Our after school clubs will also continue, and we have a very full programme this term.

Our school will be becoming involved in the Daily Mile project – where pupils are encouraged to walk or run up to a mile daily during the school day.  Early research from other schools involved shows that not only does this improve children’s fitness levels, but it also improves their concentration levels when back in the classroom.  Please ensure your child is wearing comfortable shoes and a waterproof jacket, as we are hoping to start this project soon.
