2 of our Primary 6 pupils attended the Coatbridge High Knex Challenge competition. The boys had to design and create a model Ferris Wheel with working parts from Knex. The boys worked extremely hard and demonstrated excellent team-work and problem solving skills to create a fabulous model.

Here some of the latest Stars of the Week at Old Monkland. The boys and girls were presented with their Star cushions by Miss McFadden at our weekly assemblies.

The boys and girls from Old Monkland Primary and Nursery raised £254 for BBC Sport Relief. We sold wristbands, walked a mile, had a potted sports and competed in an Inter-House Dance Off Competition. A huge thank you and well done to all of our families for their generous donations.

The boys and girls have been collecting ‘Miss McFadden’s Big Stars’ which can be exchanged for prizes from the Treasure Trove. The boys and girls get the opportunity to trade in their stars on a Friday afternoon. Take a look at some of our prize winners.

The boys and girls have worked hard all year accumulating points in our Target 21 system. The children each gained either a gold, silver or bronze reward. All of the children had great fun throughout the day trying out new games and activities in the class, gym hall and in the playground.

Primary 4 and Primary 6 ran an Enterprise Project in the School called ‘Fruitastic Smoothies’. The classes researched what children would like in a healthy smoothy and they created their own smoothies to sell in the school.

The boys and girls had great fun celebrating World Book Day at Old Monkland. The older boys and girls were book buddies for younger children in the school and nursery and each class carried out lots of book themed activities throughout the day.
