Old Monkland Primary School & Nursery Class

Primary 6 and 7 are taking part in the NLC Youth Music Initiative. This involves the children writing and recording their own song before performing at a concert later in the year. The children had a visit from Mr Cairns who helped them begin to write their own song all about ’57 different types of dogs’. The children will now begin to work on the music and recording of their song.

Primary 7 visited Coatbridge High for the first Transition Visit of the year. They attended the PE department and took part in a number of games and activities.

Primary 1/2 went a walk in the local area to collect some different materials. They then used the materials to help learn some new letters and sounds.

We love to celebrate the achievements of our pupils both in and out of school. These pupils won fantastic trophies for their performances at clubs outside of school.

This Primary 2 boy won this fantastic trophy for being ‘Player of the Week’ at his football club this week.

We had another excellent turnout for our Welcome to the Classes and Community Open Night. Our families had the opportunity to visit their child’s class base and meet their new teacher. They then attended a community event in the hall with lots of visiting stalls from agencies within the local area.
