Microsoft Teams

As a staff, we are constantly striving to find the best ways to communicate with and provide online learning for our pupils during this time. Going forward, we feel using Microsoft Teams as well as the school Blog is the most effective way to do this.

The first thing children would be required to do is log into GLOW and add the ‘Microsoft Teams’ tile to the Launchpad. I have attached a step by step guide below on how to do this. Our aim is to give you time to access and familiarise yourself with the use of teams prior to teaching staff using teams to provide learning for the children. Staff are intending to begin to use Teams from Monday 18th May.

In Microsoft Teams, I have created a team for each class. This will give pupils a safe place to communicate with each other as well as their teacher. The children will also be able to post pictures, complete activities set by their teacher and upload finished work. Staff will also create quizzes and assignments on Teams for the children to complete.

If you have any questions about accessing Microsoft Teams then please email me and I will be happy to help.

Primary 2/3

Good Afternoon boys and girls!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely week and  enjoyed some time in the sunshine. I can see from my Sum Dog there has been lots of pupils in our class working really hard on our Sum Dog challenges. There’s one for Spelling, Maths and Grammar.

Tomorrow and Monday are holidays for you all so make sure you have lots of fun and be good for your adults. I’m planning to go lots of walks with my dog. Here’s a picture of Travis watching some lambs on our walk yesterday.

New learning grids will be posted soon for you to try out, so keep an eye out for those.

Speak soon, take care

Primary 3/4 – 6.5.20

Hello boys and girls

What a lovely day it is meant to be today! I hope you get a chance to enjoy some lovely sunshine with your families today. Remember to wear suncream!

Sumdog

Well done to those of you who have had a go at the Measure and Shape competition on Sumdog this week. Remember it is still open until Friday for those of you who haven’t managed to get on yet. Who will be top of the leaderboard this week??

Reading Bingo

One of the things I have found more time to do these past few weeks is to read some books. I know how much you all enjoy our class novels and some of the stories you read in your groups too! I found a Reading Bingo challenge for you to try while you are at home. I wonder how many you could cross off? Let me know if you have a favourite book that you have been reading!

Have a great day and enjoy the sun!

Miss Marchant 🙂

Family Communication

Hi Everyone ,

It was really nice to get to speak to some families at the end of last week again. Its actually really lovely to hear your voices and be able to tell your teachers and all the staff who ask about you , how you are getting on. Thank you too , for all the kind words and enquiries if staff and their families are well . We are all doing fine just missing being at school and seeing you all.

I’ve now managed to phone or email every family individually and if you haven’t received at least a voicemail , I have called you ( to main contact only) and phone has rang out or had no facility to leave a message , but I want you to know I’m thinking of you all .

This week, staff at some of the schools on Coatbridge, including Old Monkland, are the volunteer staff at St Ambrose Hub. The children there will be learning about Under The Sea (Mon-Thurs) and the 75th Anniversary of VE day which is on Friday.

On Friday , I believe there is to be a nationwide two minute silence at 11am and a Sing Along to “We ll Meet Again ” at 9pm . I wonder of any of you will be joining in ?

Due to this I’ll not be able to make as many calls as I usually do this week but I will be back in touch when I can or at the start of next week. If you need anything or just want to write me a message to share with any of the staff , please just email me and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Take Care , Stay Safe

PS = I really hope some of you enjoyed getting your families to try some of our LEAP time fun which we posted last week!
