WHERE EVERY CHILD IS SPECIAL

Article of the Week – Article 31

Hello boys and girls,

I hope we are all enjoying the different activities posted each week! This week’s focus is on Article 31 that states all children have the right to play. We all have great fun when we are playing! You may have a favourite toy or a favourite game that you like to take part in. You could send a picture to your teacher on Microsoft Teams showing them you playing and telling us why you enjoy playing!

Although we have safe places to play, did you know, not all children have safe places to play? This week’s challenge is to design the perfect playground for children all over the world.

Think about the following questions:
• What would you love to be in your playground?
• Should you include quiet spaces?
• What age group will your design be for?
• What do you enjoy that is currently in your playground?

From this, draw a plan of what would feature in your perfect playground. You could draw the equipment or mark what you would like or search for images on the Internet and stick them on your plan. You may want to build a model of your playground using recyclable materials.

I also found a great story for Primary 1-3 called Treasure in the Garden. This book is great for encouraging outdoor play and exploration.

It would be great to see all of your playground designs! I am looking forward to seeing them.
Have a great week,

Miss Jones x
