Fundraisers
Week beginning 19.10.26– The children will be participating in a sponsored walk. Each group has their own date and we welcome families to join their children on their walk around our Netherton community although there is no obligation for families to join. If your child does not attend on their groups allocated day, they will join another group. Please look out for your sponsor forms and we will see you at 10am on the day of your child’s walk unless your child is an afternoon child where they will head out on their walk at 1.30pm. Please see picture for children’s voice on where they would like to walk in the community. This fundraiser allows us to collect vital funds for our Christmas party, gifts and additional festivities planned for children and families attending the service.
On 20th November 2026- We will be encouraging children to ‘Wear it Pink’ for Breast Cancer Awareness and will be raising funds for Breast Cancer Now. Please feel free to dress your children up in pink and add a donation.
FAQs
How does your settling in process work?
All children will have the opportunity to visit the nursery prior to their first day alongside their family. These are planned as ‘Induction Days’ alongside any other children due to start at the same time. Following this, where staffing permits, you will then be offered the opportunity for a home visit where your child will have some 1:1 time with keyworkers at home. On your child’s first day, they will stay for one hour and you will be invited to have a cup of tea in our family room and chat through the completed paperwork. Depending on how you feel your child has settled, the next days time will be agreed between yourself and the key worker.
When can my child start nursery?
Eligible children are entitled to up to 1,140 hours of funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) each year. We will discuss the available session patterns with you when your child’s place is offered. Children will start nursery in the August, January or April following their 3rd birthday.
Can I choose which days my child attends?
On your application form, you can choose which days you would like for your child to attend nursery. We will discuss available sessions and attendance patterns with families when a place is offered. We will do our best to meet family needs, although preferred sessions cannot always be guaranteed.
What should my child bring to nursery?
Children should wear suitable clothing for playing both indoors and outdoors, weather dependent. Netherton Family Learning Centre provide children with waterproof suits for outdoor play, welly boots and suitable hats. We recommend sending your child with spare clothes, as children can get messy while exploring, creating and learning! We provide a bag for each child on their peg for spare clothes. You will also have a box space under your child’s peg to put shoes. Some children choose to wear indoor shoes.
Please ensure all belongings are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
During warmer months, we expect children to arrive with sun cream on prior to their session beginning and if possible, to provide a bottle of sun cream to keep within the nursery for staff to put on your child.
