Friday Correction Time

Good morning Primary 4. I hope you have had a good week. I am really pleased to see some pupils have started to use the Teams area. I’ve loved seeing the funny pictures. Well done to the children who put their work up on the Teams page. Great to see. Next week all main tasks will be set via Teams so if you haven’t logged on try to do it today or over the weekend.

Here are the answers for self-assessment.

Welcome Back to Online School! Term 4 Starts Here!

Welcome back to school and term 4 in Primary 4. I will upload tasks for you to try to complete this week here. Today’s key task is planning your week. Look at all the activities posted and decide which ones you wish to do. Talk to mum and dad about planning your day. Make sure you are not sitting on a computer or Ipad all day. Remember you need to take regular breaks from a screen. Decide which activities you need to use the TV, perhaps YouTube activities, ones you can do on your own, practical tasks requiring adult support etc… Your mum and dad also have the First Level Grid emailed to them this week with a list of suggestions so there is a LOT to choose from. I would like it if you tried to do two maths/numeracy tasks, two literacy tasks, two reading tasks, a practical or HWB/RE task over the week. Remember exercise every day.

I have also created a Teams area for our class. Please use this link to go and explore. Over the next few weeks you will be able to post photos and your answers to assignments.

Use the attached timetable to plan your week.

Alleluia He Has Risen Alleluia!

We are now in the season of Eastertide. We celebrate the great joy that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead. if we were together in class we would start and each day with the small prayer written above. Alleluia He Has Risen Alleluia! You can say that at home with your family.

I’ve included a lovely little prayer service you can organise for your family. This is a lovely thing to do when we can’t get together in Mass.Easter_Signs_of_New_Life_Lsn

Numeracy Tasks Week beg. 20th April

This week we have some revision tasks to get us settled back in to work.

The first is quick fire mental addition. Set a timer for 5 minutes and see how many you can do. Keep a note of your answers and I will post the answers on Friday for you to self assess. If you find this task challenging spend some time on Topmarks addition to 50. It will enable you to practise this important skill.

The second task is revision of your addition and subtraction skills. I have set word problems. Take care some are two-step problems. Remember to note down your working and keep it. I’ll post the answers in the Teams area on Friday.

The final one is data handling. We looked at tally marks and bar graphs last term. It is all about birthdays! Again the answers will be posted in the Teams area on Friday.

End of Week 2 Home Learning

Primary 4 we have come to the end of another week of home learning. I want to thank all of you who have taken the time to leave a comment letting me know what you are doing at home. I would encourage you all to try to leave one comment today or over the weekend to let me know you can see the posts. I am attaching an important message for your parents. Please ask them to read it.

Today is the last day of term! Please enjoy your holiday. You can still see posts and updates and some Easter activities on the St Joseph’s Page. Up till now Mrs Ayton has been updating this area with Spanish language activities but over the holidays Mr McCloskey will be keeping it updated.

Don’t forget to come back to home school on Monday 20th April.

Love from Ms Hutchison and Flora.

This Week’s Other Area Prepare for Easter

Here is a short video that explains why palms were used to welcome Jesus to Jerusalem.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zy2hyrd

We won’t be going to Mass with our community during Holy Week but we can watch it live from St Joseph’s on YouTube. That’s right Father Kenny and Father Rooney are YouTube stars!

You can join them for daily Mass live at 11.30am every day or catch it later. Here is the link.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCI_XBWRznEyoko7s5gLNLhA

The Rosary is being said every evening at 6pm. If you can’t join in at that time why not choose a time for you and your family to say a decade together. Do you remember we said one together on the last day in school, it takes less than 5 minutes..go on..teach your mum and dad.

Literacy and Mathematics Grids Week 2

Remember to read the post all about week 2. Then look at the grids attached and create your personalised school day!

LiteracyNumeracy Week 2

I have also attached a list of the daily live events to help with the listening and talking tasks.

Daily Live Events

Remember to go outside into the garden if you can when the weather is good. Plan your daily walk with your family. You are very lucky in Stepps/Cardowan to have some lovely walks around the Cardowan Moss, Frankfield Loch, Hogganfield Loch and up to see the horses in the fields on the way to Muirhead. Enjoy whilst the weather is good.

Welcome to Week 2 Home Learning

Boys and Girls this week we will move on to a grid system for your homework. It looks like the grids I send home for homework, except this time there will be a grid for literacy, numeracy and a third one for all other areas. Each grid will have a have options for you to choose from. Look at the grids with mum and dad and plan what you will do each day. Don’t forget you need to mix it up. Some days you may do oral work for literacy and written work for numeracy and vice versa. Remember if you are working on a screen to give your eyes a break every 20 minutes. Perhaps do another activity and come back to the screen after 10 minutes.

I hope the good weather keeps up and if it does plan a family walk or activity outside.

Boys and Girls you don’t really need to watch the news but if you want to would you please read this.

There is a lot of news on TV and radio at the moment. I would prefer if you want to watch the news you watch BBC Newsround.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround

This is a programme designed for children and explains it for you.

Do you remember when we were using the internet to research how the human body works? I told you to always put in the tag for children or KS1 so that the information was at the right level for us, well Newsround is at our level.
