Developing the Use of Platforms and Apps

Tech Tuesdays

Tech Tuesdays is a resource that provides teachers across the authority with lesson packs and accompanying videos, designed to teach Digital Literacy and Computing Science, knowledge, understanding and skills. This has developed from creation of the Progression Pathways and links directly to our Exemplified Learning. Our team creates these videos that are released and shared on our Virtual Classroom each Tuesday, however they can be accessed anytime after their release date.

I have been part of the Computer Science creation Team where I have planned and created lessons covering numerous platforms such as: Scratch JR, Scratch, OctoStudio, Marty Apps Platform – inc Marty Controller, MartyBlocks Jr & MartyBlocks, Micro:bits Editor and SmartArt on PowerPoint.

These lessons also provide suggestions where the skills and knowledge learned can be used within cross-curricular contexts.

Teacher CLPL

With the removal of SeeSaw from our Authority, schools were seeking an alternative way to share their pupil’s learning journeys with their parents in a secure way. As an authority, we were recommending the use of Sway as this can be password protected and set to only be accessed by those who have the link. I then went on to create training PowerPoint showing staff how to create a template Learning Journal on Sway, as well as taking them through the process. I also created a pupil version that they were able to then use in class in the upper stages of the Primary.

After discussions with a HT and Nursery Lead, who were looking for a way to get feedback from parent’s on their child’s Learning Journals, I have planned and implemented a session involving Sway Learning Journals with an embedded Form.
