Fairtrade Scavenger Hunt

Pupils have been working in teams this morning to complete a Fairtrade scavenger hunt.  They had to search indoors and outdoors for key information about the history of fairtrade.  Pupils had to find the information, read and dictate sentences to each other and record all information accurately.  They also had to work hard to stay together and encourage each other.  Children will use this information next week to present their learnI got back to the other groups.

Fairtrade Fortnight

We started thinking about fairtrade today by watching a video and presentation about how we can support fairtrade.  Some Primary 5 pupils then performed a short role play to highlight the importance of choosing to buy these products.  We will be building on this work during Thinking Circles this week.

Malawi Partnership

Thank you to all our visitors who came this morning to give us updates from our new partnership school in Malawi.  Mrs Donaldson came to show us some great pictures and Mrs Rusk and her knitting team showed us some of the fantastic items they have produced for our partnership school.  Well done to our enterprise pupils and Mrs Towers for giving a presentation all about actions we are taking to support our friends in Malawi.

Scottish Assembly

Thank you to everyone who came along to support our fantastic pupils on Friday afternoon.   We were very proud to see all our children stand up and present their learning to parents and the wider community.  We certainly have a school full of confident individuals.  I would like to say a big thank you to all staff for getting involved in making our assembly a success.  Our ‘Friends of Kirko’ Shotts’ group did an outstanding job with the home baking, tea and coffee as usual.

Thank you
