Career Management Skills (CMS)

Career Management Skills (CMS)

Career Management Skills come under 4 headings Self, Strengths, Horizons and Networks.

Self – Is about understanding yourself, what you like, enjoy, what kind of personality you have, your interests and values.  This is key to making the right career decisions.

Strengths – Knowing what you’re good at and how to describe and use your strengths, skills and personal qualities can lead to successful transitions. People tend to go into jobs with the strengths they use most often.

Horizons – Explore the different opportunities that are out there and right for you and knowing what is out there can lead you into what it is you want to do whether it be college, Uni, work, volunteering, modern apprenticeship, graduate apprenticeship or training.

Networks – Knowing who can help and how in your career journey will make progression easier.

These skills will help to ensure young people are successful career planners in school and they can use their CMS at any time in their lives.
