Senior Leadership Team Remits

In Holytown Primary School and Nursery Class, the current  Senior Leadership Team (SLT) comprises of a Head Teacher (HT), Depute Head Teacher (DHT) and Principal Teacher (PT).  

The role of the SLT is to effectively lead and manage the School and the Nursery.  The Head Teacher has overall responsibility within the school.  The DHT and PT assist and, where necessary, to deputise for the Head Teacher in the conduct of the affairs of the school and all duties outlined in Annex B of a Teaching Profession for the 21st Century.

The Specific Responsibilities of the HT include:
Overall responsibility for leading and managing the school and nursery class.
  • Monitoring and Quality Assurance of Learning and Teaching.
  • Line Manager of Teaching staff, Early Learning staff, Office and Support staff.
  • Child and Adult Protection Co-ordinator
  • Overall responsibility for School Improvement Planning and Reporting.
  • Staff Professional Review and Development
  • Continuing Professional Learning Co-ordinator
  • Promoting Positive Relationships and Behaviour 
  • Pupil Pastoral Care
  • Staff Welfare
  • Finance and Budget
  • Advisor to the Parent Council
  • Pupil Care and Welfare
  • Pupil Attendance
  • Staff Absence Management
  • Community Liaison
  • Health and Safety
  • Fire Marshall
 
The responsibilities of the DHT include:
  • Early & First Level Curriculum Improvement with a specific focus on Nursery and transitions.
  • Promoting Positive Relationships and Behaviour across the school.
  • Management of Additional Support for Learning.
  • External Agency Liaison.
  • Staff Professional Review and Development
  • Continuing Professional Learning Co-ordinator
  • Pupil Nurture Champion.
  • Student Teacher and Work Experience Co-ordinator.
  • Non Class Contact and Absence Cover across the school and Nursery.
  • Community Volunteer/Parent Helper Co-ordinator.
 
The responsibilities of the PT include
  • Second Level Curriculum Improvement with a specific focus on P7 to S1 transitions.
  • Maths Champion
  • Health & Wellbeing Champion.
  • Modern Foreign Languages French Lead Learner.
  • Pupil Leadership Team Advisor .

There are also other staff within the school who undertake leadership roles, including ICT Co-ordinator, GLOW Champion, ASD Lead Learner, Out of School Hours Learning Co-ordinator, JRSO Advisor.
