Primary 7 visit to Brannock High School
On Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th May, our Primary 7 pupils will be visiting Brannock High School as part of their preparation for High School. Pupils should make their own way to and from Brannock and ensure they have all equipment they will need to the two days and remember this is the “first chance to make a first impression”. Have fun!

Health Week
What a fabulous week we have had. Health week has involved a range of health activities including Wii Zumba, Smile Mile walk and hula hooping. Our Healthy games sale was a huge success, with balls, skipping ropes and hula hoops on sale. Thank you for all your support with this.

VE Day – Friday 8th May
To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of VE Day, we had a special assembly telling everyone about how VE day was celebrated in 1945. This is an important day for everyone to remember.

In-Service Day
Remember tomorrow (Thursday 7th May) is an In-Service Day for staff. There is no school for pupils. School and Nursery will re-open for all at the usual times on Friday

Family Bingo
Eyes down! Our next family bingo evening will be held in the school on Tuesday 28th April from 6.30pm. Please come along and support your school.
Any raffle prize donations or homemaking would be gratefully received by the Parents and Friends Association.

The Potential of a Puddle!
A wee reminder that our first transition session for parents and carers of Primary 1 pupils coming to Holytown Primary School in August will be held on Monday 27th April from 5pm until 6pm. This interactive session is for parents and pupils. We are not able to look after younger or older children but you are welcome to bring them along although they will not be able to participate in the interactive sessions.
This session has been organised and will be run both both school staff and our Community Learning & Development Worker, Louise Savage. Part of this session may be outside, so please make sure you and your child is appropriately dressed for the Scottish Weather!
If you have any questions about this session, please speak to Nursery staff or contact the school office.

Divided City
Well what a proud Head Teacher I am! Our two performances of Divided City were fantastic. Over the past 10 weeks our Primary 7 pupils have been working with Primary 7 pupils from Christ the King Primary on a project focusing on the novel Divided City by Theresa Breslin.
This has been a really exciting and thought provoking project which has explored issues of sectarianism and friendship, issues which affect us all but hopefully will positively influence them as they grow and develop. Our pupils have had the opportunity to explore and learn through working with cast and crew from The Citizen’s Theatre.
The pupils have been a credit to their families and their schools. They have been enthusiastic, hardworking and enjoyed every minute of the project. They have worked together sharing thoughts and ideas. They have played together at playtimes and made new friends – a once in a lifetime experience.
Today we were joined by friends and families as well as local Councillors, Rev. Kyle and Father Haddock, to view the culmination of this superb project. We were also delighted to host the BBC who were filming the performances as part of the documentary celebrating 70 years of the Citizen’s Theatre. We were honoured to have the author of Divided City, Theresa Breslin in the audience.

Glasgow Music Festival
Congratulations to our fabulous choir who were awarded joint 3rd place last Monday. They have all worked really hard and we are so proud of their achievements. Thank you very much to Mrs Ewart for her hard work getting the choir ready.

Divided City – Friday 27th March
The curtain is nearly up… and we are almost ready for our performance of Divided City along with pupils from Christ The King Primary. We have performances at 1.45pm and at 6.30pm. We still have a few number of tickets available from the school office.
