Excursions

Our Nursery Children are visiting Wellsfield Farm Park on 18 May.

All Primary Pupils are visiting Dumfries House for their school excursion this year. Each class will have a different focus, which is linked to our school improvement plan. We are linking our school garden with our new learning kitchen as we move towards the grow it, cook it, eat it approach advocated by Scottish Government.

P1a and P1b will focus on plants on 12 and 13 March respectively.

P2  will find out where food comes from (first level) on 25 March.

P2/3 will find out what vegetables need to grow (first level) on 18 March.

P3 will learn about food preparation on 27 March.

P4 and P4/5 will link their prior learning about quails with a trip focused on biodiversity and habitats on 31 March and 20 April respectively.

P5 will find out where food comes from (second level) on 26 March.

P5/6 will look at what vegetables need to grow (second level) on 24 March.

P6/7 will learn about how land was used during the war on 8 June.

P7 will find out how food grown during the war on 1 June.

These excursions are expensive but are very worthwhile.

I am delighted to tell you that our generous Parent Council are subsidising the cost of the excursions by approximately £5 per pupil so that every pupil’s trip costs £7.50. Thank you very much Parent Council!
