General Information
The pupils worked well together to ensure that every child was comfortable with their allocated dormitory and activity group. We have exclusive use of the second floor seaward block at Kilbowie. Each dormitory has two sets of bunkbeds, a wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom. There will be a maximum of 4 children in each dorm.
Mrs Martin, Ms Hendry and Mrs Allan will accompany the pupils to Kilbowie with Mrs Martin taking the overall lead. Mrs Martin will directly oversee the boys’ dormitories, which are Rooms 13a to Room 15 and Ms Hendry will directly oversee the girls’ dormitories, which are Rooms 9a to Room 11. Mrs Allan will also support all pupils.
The activity groups have a maximum of 10 pupils and are made up completely of boys and girls from Glenmanor.
Payment
Kilbowie must be paid in full by Friday 30 October 2015.
Clothes
Please see below the clothing list that was previously issued in the Kilbowie – Information for Parents and Pupils booklet.
Medication
If your child requires medication while at Kilbowie, you should have completed the parental request form and handed this in to school. You should have obtained a separate supply of medicine, properly labelled from the pharmacist. Please ensure that the medicine container is clearly labelled with the name of your child, the name of the medicine, the dosage and time to be taken. Please put the medicine in a clear plastic bag and ensure that this is also clearly labelled with the child’s name. You must ensure that there is enough medicine to last until your child returns from the residential excursion.
If your child experiences travel sickness, please follow the procedures above and inform a member of staff at check in.
If your child suffers from asthma or another medical condition, it is essential that you inform me of any restrictions that need to be applied to his/her activities and the medication that has been prescribed for routine and emergency treatment.
If you child suffers from epileptic attacks, diabetes or anaphylactic shock, it is essential that you inform me of the appropriate emergency treatment which should be given.
Spendng Money
Children should bring no more than £5 for the tuck shop in £1 coins or smaller change. Children can also bring a further £5 to spend on souvenirs at the “Green Welly” pit stop on the way home from Kilbowie. Please ensure that your child’s money is in a purse/wallet with the child’s name clearly labelled. Kilbowie operates a healthy living policy. They do not sell fizzy drinks or crisps and if anyone is thirsty, they have bottled water and cartons of still juice.
Check In
All pupil and parents should access the school via the main doors at 9am on Monday 2 November. There will be two check in desks, one for boys and one for girls, where you will be asked to hand over any medication and spending money and these will be safely stored by staff going to Kilbowie. Once checked in, you will be asked to wait in the hall until the bus arrives at 9.30am.
Bus Journey
The bus takes approximately 3½ hours from Moodiesburn to Oban. The bus stops at the Green Welly for a comfort break only and will arrive at Kilbowie in time for lunch. Please ensure that your child has had a good breakfast and do not provide sweets and drinks for the bus journey (or your child’s stay) as we don’t want children being sick on the way. They will be given a substantial lunch when they arrive at Kilbowie.
