Departmental Aims:

To provide a stimulating and motivating environment in which to educate pupils embracing the Government’s Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce initiative.

  • To promote a variety of work based skills including real life experiences as to how businesses operate.
  • To give pupils the opportunity to develop practical skills and confidence in information and communication technology.
  • To encourage pupils’ planning and analytical capabilities to develop their evaluation skills.
  • Provide pupils with opportunities to work effectively both as individuals and as part of a team.
  • To encourage pupils to achieve their best potential by giving feedback on their work.

Broad General Phase 

General Phase pupils progress through all the Experiences and Outcomes of the Curriculum for Excellence and assessment is achieved using the progression framework of the Significant Aspects of Learning.

S1-S3 use a variety of hardware, PCs, iPads, mobile devices, laptops, cameras, scanners, mixer decks and recording equipment to access a range of software. In this way pupils are taught transferable, practical skills and knowledge and understanding of this subject including elements of STEM (science, engineering, maths and technology).

Extra Curricular

The SheBot Club for girls who are interested in robotics is held on Tuesday lunchtimes and after school at New College Lanarkshire, Motherwell Campus on Wednesdays.  Please see Mrs Sweeney if you are interested in joining.
