Welcome to Firpark Primary School

Mrs Webster’s Message

October 2020

As we approach the October holiday it’s time to reflect on our term so far:
It’s been lovely to see how the children have settled back into school after such a lengthy break. So far we have managed full time education which will hopefully continue after the holiday, however the blended option is organised and ready to deploy if required. The children have adapted really well to the changes both to their school day and the curriculum, with Outdoor Learning being a big success across all stages. Particular thanks to the Outdoor Learning Team who have worked hard to create and develop the sites within our campus and acquire resources from a variety of outlets.
We hope you all enjoyed the individual class ‘Meet the Teacher’ videos we shared on Class Dojo as well as the Outdoor Learning and PE ones. We appreciate this is not the same as visiting your child’s class in person but hope that it gave you a flavour of a school day.
Settling-In Reviews are underway using the Webex virtual system and our first Parent Council meeting also took place this way. Thanks to both new and existing parents who have joined our already strong Parent Council which works on behalf of all parents to support the school.
At the September weekend we said a sad farewell to Mr Kevin McQuade and wish him well in his retirement. We also welcome Mrs Jacqueline McLaughlin back for a temporary period, she is joining our Leadership Team as Depute Head Teacher alongside Mrs Ellis.
Clearly we have had to make some changes to our day to day running in order to ensure the safety of our school community as we live through the current pandemic, however all staff continue to work extremely hard to ensure our young people access the very best educational experience possible. As ever, please contact me if you wish to discuss any aspect of your child’s education or the wider school community and I look forward to continue working with you all over this school session.
