Length

Today we are starting to explore length in Maths. We created mind maps of everything we know already about length. This is what we remeber from our previous learning:

Behtnay L: You measure roads.

Lillie: You can measure crocodiles.

Jason: You can measure the length of a marathon.

Charlie: You can measure how far the ball goes when you throw it.

Jack: You use it to measure walls.

Cameron: There is a length in a swimming pool. They might tell you to swim 2 lengths of the pool.

Cate: You can measure how long a car is.

Heather: You can measure a football pitch.

We all know that length is a measurement. We noticed that the area of a shape is length x breadth.

Length can be measured with decimals. We done a fist of five and we are confident that we will be able to work with decimals. We have been exploring decimals in class so we don’t think they should be a problem.
