This week in Numeracy we have learning all about 3!

We had to put all the number 3’s in the 3 green box.

We made our number 3 with the playdough.

We practised writing number 3.

We had to count out 3 and put it in tubs.

In maths we have been busy.sorting by type. Which means we put all the ones that are the same thing together.

P1 homework 2 2016

Literacy:

This week we learned the letter a. We had to feed a monster in our class but he only eats ‘a’ this week so we fed him an arm, an apple, an aeroplane, an alien, an anchor, an astronaut, an ant, an axe and an alligator!

Our new topic:

Our topic is the three little pigs. On Monday we were doing stations for our topic. We got to read the book in the library, we made the little houses in construction, in the house corner we were pretending to be the characters, we used some playdough to make pig faces and wolf faces, we used puppets, and at the writing station we made words from the story with the letter beads. We all had great fun! Later in the week we showed off our colouring, cutting and sorting skills to make a straw, stick and brick house. Check out our pictures…

 

Our Maths & Numeracy:

This week we learned the number 2! We have been writing it, making it and we learned a little rhyme to remember it too.

We have also been busy sorting. We can sort things by colour and on Friday we did a colour hunt and we were in teams wearing colourful bibs. It was really good and we had fun!

Since we’ve been at school we have been very busy making and writing our names. It is important that we can read and write our names because they are ours.  We’ve worked hard making our names with giant chalk in the playground, crayons, pens, playdough, beads, sand, and in the Big Book of Names!

Yesterday we went on our class trip to Deep Sea World. It was a great day! Look at our pictures to see how much fun we had!

Today we were very lucky in P1/2 because we had a special visitor. Katie from Carnival Cruises in America came to speak to us about living and working on the sea. She spoke to us about how we can stay safe at sea which is an important part of her job. We even got to see some pictures of the ships, some sea creatures and she even let us hold some special things from the ships. We share our artwork and some of our stories with Katie and she thought they were great! We’ve had a fantastic morning! 

Today was our third day of Health Week! We were very lucky to get a coaching session with Ross from NLC. We got to play lots of fun active games in the gym hall. We started with traffic lights. Then we played Shark Attack. After that we played Vegetable Soup which was great fun.

Then Ross had us make a big circle so we could play Clock in the Tower which we LOVE!! We also played a game of Detective Detective which was really funny when we had to pretend to die!

To finish off we played jumping and cluedo tig! We had never played these ones before!
