Chryston’s Got Talent

Today we had an exciting morning as we watched all the amazing talent we have in Chryston Primary. Check out two SUPER TALENTED children in P1b!

Miss Kinloch and Primary 1b are so proud of you both!

P1b Assesmbly

Today was our class assembly. We were very excited to show off our learning to our adults. Some of us were a little bit nervous too!

Miss Kinloch said we all did an amazing job and made her so so so proud! We loved seeing our adults and we were so good at our lines.

We want to say thank you to everyone who came to our assembly. You are all amazing!

Our new Topic!

This week we started a new topic all about Percy!

We had a bit of excitement in P1 as we had a letter from Percy that had blown away and had to find it under wood in the playground!

Percy wants to help us find out more about his job as a park keeper, his animals and living things.

On Thursday we got to do some super fun new stations for Percy! Our house corner has turned into a Garden Centre and we do special jobs for Percy’s plants. At the writing area we were writing our own stories about Percy and his animals. In the library we used the animal puppets to act out the story. At the creative area we made a new wheelbarrow for Percy. At the construction area we made a tree house for Percy and his animals just like in the story!

We are enjoying our new topic and we can’t wait for our next letter from Percy!

Fantastic at Fractions!

Primary 1B have been so busy since coming back after the Easter Break learning about Fractions! We have learned the fraction called a half.

We know it is a half because it will be the same on both side and you get two equal pieces.

On Thursday we took our learning about halving outside! We worked as a team to half some even numbers. The first person had to run up and get the amount of cones the teacher said. Person number two had to put the cones inside the hoops and share them in half. The third person had to write the half story with giant chalk! Miss Kinloch thought we were all amazing!

New Homework

Good Afternoon,

I hope you all had a great Easter holiday. It has been lovely hearing all the exciting holiday stories today. I can’t believe we are already in term 4. This is another busy term with lots to get through.

The children have the new homework in their bags. This will be issued on a Monday and should be returned to class every Friday. The homework pack includes a printed version of the choosing grid and on the back is a list of active spelling strategies and suggested websites for you to keep in a safe place at home. This won’t be reprinted as you can access it here:

P1 Homework Grid

It is designed to offer more flexibility as to  how many tasks you/your child select each week. the tasks/skills and websites that your child has completed can be recorded on in the space provided on the weekly A5 homework checklist.  The children can also colour in a smiley face once they have completed their school reading book each night. Within the pack is the maths worksheet. Please ensure your child brings their new homework wallet to school on a Friday so that the new weekly checklist can be added and new homework sheet inserted to avoid lots of loose paper getting lost.

Please see below the weekly checklist for week beg: 16th April

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Kinloch
