A Special Visitor

Today we were very lucky in P1/2 because we had a special visitor. Katie from Carnival Cruises in America came to speak to us about living and working on the sea. She spoke to us about how we can stay safe at sea which is an important part of her job. We even got to see some pictures of the ships, some sea creatures and she even let us hold some special things from the ships. We share our artwork and some of our stories with Katie and she thought they were great! We’ve had a fantastic morning! image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image image

Health Week Day 3!

Today was our third day of Health Week! We were very lucky to get a coaching session with Ross from NLC. We got to play lots of fun active games in the gym hall. We started with traffic lights. Then we played Shark Attack. After that we played Vegetable Soup which was great fun.

Then Ross had us make a big circle so we could play Clock in the Tower which we LOVE!! We also played a game of Detective Detective which was really funny when we had to pretend to die!

To finish off we played jumping and cluedo tig! We had never played these ones before!

What we thought of today…

  • Fandabbydosy
  • They were very fun.
  • Great fun!
  • Amazing!
  • Funny
  • Epic!

Health Week Day 2!

Today was the second day of health week. We spent time outside today doing a flag hunt. The flags are from the countries taking part in the Rio Olympics this Summer. We worked in teams to take pictures of the flags in our iPads. Then we did our Daily Mile it puffed some of us out! In Gym we had our last practise of races before Sports Day. We timed ourselves on the i-pad and tried to beat our best time!  We think Health Week is great fun!

Health Week Day 1

Today was the first day of Health Week. We got to make a healthy snack, We decided to use vegetables because they are healthy. We made vegetable funny faces using cucumber, pepper, carrots and tomatoes. We really enjoyed designing and trying our vegetable faces. Miss Kinloch was really impressed at all the empty plates! We then used our healthy snacks to do some of our data handling. We used Tally Marks to find out which vegetable was everyone in the class’s favourite. We counted up the tally marks to find the total and then worked out which had the most and least. We showed the information we found out in a bar graph.

Some of our thoughts and favourite parts…

  • It was fun
  • It was exciting
  • Making the faces was great
  • Trying the food was fun

Towns and Cities

As part of our world explorers we have been learning about Towns and Cities. We know that we live in a town called Chryston and that our nearest city is Glasgow. Our capital city is Edinburgh and it has a castle.

We got to do some junk modelling to create our own cities. We added extra details like escalators, flags and sky scrapers. image image image image image image image image imageWe thought about how we could take care of our city environment. Locking your doors and cars, not dropping litter and walking instead of driving were all excellent ideas. We made persuasive posters…

image image image image image imageThen we got to be a bit silly! Miss Kinloch had us pretend to be a monster and destroy our cities like in the movies. It was loud and crazy but great fun!! Even if we did scare next doors P1 a little bit!! image image imageThank you for reading our blog!

Measuring Monkeys

We have been very busy learning all about measurement in class. We have investigated length, weight and capacity. We learned lots of new words to help us with our measuring.

We used lots of resources to measure length around the class. We really enjoyed using the building blocks to measure how how tall and small things are…

image image image image image image image image imageThe we moved on to weight where we used the pan scales to explore heavy, light and balanced. We used real weights that had grams on them too, it was great fun!

image image image image image imageFinally we learned about capacity. This is how much something can hold. We used words like full, half full, nearly empty and empty. Using the water was amazing but very messy so we learned to be gentle when pouring too…

Making Mistakes

This morning was a little bit strange because we got to play with toothpaste. We squeezed it out and we rubbed our hands through it. We got into a BIG mess!

But then Miss Kinloch put on the tidy up song and told us to put the toothpaste back in the tub! We were all a bit stuck and puzzled because we couldn’t do it!

We learned that some mistakes can’t be fixed. Just like Jonah when he didn’t go to Ninevah like god told him to. We were lucky because we never got swallowed by a fish all we had to was tidy up!

We know to always say sorry to try and make things better just like Jonah said sorry and was spat out by the fish!

Take a look at our crazy pictures of this morning…
