Sorting
This week we have been sorting by colours
We sang lots of songs about colours our favourite was the crayon song where we had to guess the colour from a rhyme. Orange doesn’t rhyme with anything!
We did some stations for colour sorting we had to…
- we had to use tweezers to put the coloured pom poms in the correct bowl
- we sorted the dinosaurs by colour and we had to count them
- we played snap on the Smart board with colours
- we played colour games
- we matched colour words to the correct colour
New Sound
We learned our first ever sound it says ‘a’ and its name is ‘A’.
Things we know about ‘a’ are…
- it sits on the line and reaches the grass
- it is a curly caterpillar letter and has a fat tummy!
- apple, ant, anchor, and aeroplane all start with our sound.
We have been…
- practising writing a and A
- sorting out capital and lower case letters
- looking for things that start with a and A.
Thank you for reading about our learning!
What a lot of work going on in P1b and it’s only the beginning of September. I’m very proud of you all!
