The Start of a New Year in P1/2

We have had a few weeks to settle into our new class as Primary 1/2 and have been very busy with lots of new learning.  Primary 1 have had a fantastic start to primary school and are enjoying all of the new experiences that they have had.

This term in maths we will be working on our numbers, sorting and matching and also 2D shape.  Primary 1 have been learning how to write some of their numbers and have been sorting by colour and type.  Primary 2 have been revising their numbers up to 20 and have been practising their adding and take away.

In literacy this term Primary 1 will be learning lots of new letter and sounds.  They are already learning how to read and write lots of new common words.  Primary 2 have started to learn lots of new phonemes and common words and have started their reading programme. As a class we will also be learning how to write narrative stories about lots of different things.  Mrs Noble says we are writing wizards!

To start the year we will be working of lots of different traditional tales.  So far we have enjoyed working on the story of The Three Little Pigs and we are now working on Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  We are enjoying lots of art, drama and music activities that link to our story and are having lots of fun.

We will keep our blog up to date with everything that we are learning this year!
