BGE S1 – S3

During online learning, S1 – S3 classes have been working on a variety of assignments, expanding their knowledge of Drama Terminology, Drama Skills and Production Design.

S1 pupils have been working on developing their knowledge and understanding of how to use their voice when creating a drama. They have been looking at the Titanic and creating characters to be created and portrayed in a radio drama. S1 have been working on writing in role tasks, completing a quiz about their use of Voice in drama and watching live theatre. S1 will be moving on to learning about using movement to portray a character when they return to school.

S2 pupils have been working on developing their knowledge and understanding of how to use their voice and movement when creating a drama. They have been writing horror scripts, producing a writing in role task and movement quiz and watching live theatre. S2 will be moving on to learn more about drama terminology, form, genre and work on creating a Docudrama in small groups.

S3 pupils have been working on developing their knowledge and understanding of script writing, drama skills and production skills. They have been writing radio dramas and learning about a variety of production skills, using a dramatic text as a stimulus, helping them to develop their ideas about how production design can enhance a drama. S3 will be moving on to learn to create their own dramas by developing characters, creating compelling stories and using production skills to enhance their dramas. They will be working in small groups to complete this task and learn more about effective communication, group work and building their confidence in performing.

Senior School

During online learning, N5 and Higher Drama classes have been working on a variety of assignments. All pupils have been researching and developing their characters for their acting assessment by completing characterisation techniques such as role on the wall, character cards and writing in role. Pupils have attended live acting rehearsal lessons on teams with a focus on learning lines. Pupils have also been preparing for their written assessments by completing theory tasks and attending live lessons.

Our N5 and Higher pupils have also been able to come into school recently to practice for their acting assessment. We are very impressed with the amount of work pupils have into preparing for the rehearsals over lockdown by learning lines and researching their characters. The rehearsals have been going very well due to the excellent work ethic in each class. Pupils are aiming to perform their acting pieces in May in front of the rest of their class.
