S1 – S6 Core Assignment

During the month of February, all core PE classes were given an assignment to complete on a ‘Scottish Sporting Hero’. Student engagement in this assignment was exceptionally high and the quality of work produced was excellent. Pupils demonstrated their knowledge of their chosen topic through their detailed presentations and made good use of a wide range of ICT mediums. See below for some extracts from our S1- S6 students.

Club One5zero

Club One5Zero was created to encourage and support the engagement of pupils with physical activity and exercise from home. The objective was for every pupil at Coatbridge High School to achieve at least 150 minutes of exercise every week.

Pupils received an activity log that they could add in the exercise they engaged with and the duration of that activity. It was also encouraged that pupils attached evidence of their efforts, whether that was screenshots from the GPS apps or pictures/videos of them doing the activity.

A huge well done to everyone who put in a great deal of effort to remain active during remote learning! PE Staff have been very impressed with you!

Sports Leaders

Throughout remote learning from January – March, our Sports Leaders have engaged in several different tasks and challenges. First of which was to reflect on their time and progress as a Sports Leader this year. Pupils were asked to produce a Report highlighting their newfound skills and qualities and how this has impacted them going forward into further education and /or employment. Pupils were also given the opportunity to create several videos where they delivered a fun challenging game from home. These were put on twitter for our local primary pupils to try.

As well as this, pupils have had the opportunity to design their own personal Orienteering Map around where they live and for our pupils on their return to school to use Orienteering around Dunbeth Park.

Lastly, our pupils have been working hard to create a variety of Fitness Circuits that they will hopefully get the chance to use with our pupils with they return to school.
