As a Rights Respecting School we promote pupil rights in a variety of ways and value the importance of supporting pupils to ensure their voice is heard in the school.
We promote pupil rights in the following ways:
- Our Rights Respecting Schools (RRS) group created a Rights Charter which highlights what pupils and staff need to do to ensure pupils rights are met.
- We also created RRS posters to highlight pupil rights in clear and straightforward language.
- Our RRS leaflet which conveys information on pupil rights and links them to our school values.
- Finally, our RRS group create an Article of the Week video which looks at one or two pupil rights each week. This is available on our school Youtube channel – Coatbridge High School CHS – YouTube. The latest can be viewed below:
The Rights Respecting team have also been involved in multiple initiatives including litter picking on Coatbridge Main Street, Anti-bullying Week, Youth Philanthropy Initiative and many more.
In addition, we have multiple initiatives which promote Pupil Voice including: our Pupil Council, School and House Captains, the BGE Leadership Team, Mental Health ambassadors, Equality club and many more. We also regularly get pupil feedback to improve what we offer in classes.
