GIRFEC and GIRFMe Planning

At Cleland Primary School, we follow the national Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) approach. This helps us consider each child’s wellbeing using the SHANARRI indicators: Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible and Included.

When a child requires additional support, we may develop a GIRFMe (Getting It Right for Me) plan. This identifies the child’s strengths, the support they need, the outcomes we hope to achieve and the actions everyone will take to help.

Children and their families are central to this process. Plans are created collaboratively, reviewed regularly and updated as the child’s needs change. Where appropriate, we also work closely with partner agencies to ensure that every child receives the right support at the right time.
