Outdoor Learning – Science

We had great fun taking our learning outside to investigate science in the natural environment.

We used the puddles in the playground to prove evaporation throughout the day.  We chose  puddles, drew chalk round them and measured the diameter. Then we revisited the puddles several times throughout the day, as the puddles evaporated we draw chalk around the new size and measured again. By the end of the day some of our puddles had completely evaporated.

Excellent work Primary 6.

Visit to the Scottish Parliament

On Wednesday 20th January, Primary 6 went on a visit to Edinburgh to the Scottish Parliament. We had a fabulous day and learned lots of interesting facts.

We had a presentation about the history of the parliament where we had artefacts that we had to describe, then we went on a tour of the building, learning all about the architecture. We visited the debating chamber and finally had a visit for question time with our local MSP.

To top off a really exciting day, we bumped into the First Minister, Nicola Strugeon in the foyer and she agreed to a photo with us! What a great day out!

Athletics

Primary 6 have been very enthusiastic whilst learning athletics. We have worked on our running, jumping and throwing skills and in amongst that we managed some outdoor learning with our measure work! We were blessed with some really lovely Autumn days and managed to have outdoor PE lessons for a number of weeks. Due to injury at times we had pupils unable to take part and they became our photo finish officials and resident reporters. Look at some of their fabulous photos.
