Glasgow Science Centre

What a fabulous time we all had at the Science Centre. It was such a busy day visiting the exhibitions, the imax and the Planetarium as well as trying to fit in a bite to eat. The day absolutely flew in and, as always, we represented the school fantastically well. We only wish we had more time as we didn’t manage to get to see it all! As you can see from the photos we all had a ball.

Maths Homework for 25/2/16

Now that we have finished multiplication for a little while I would like you to give me some problem solving questions that include multiplication. Remember some of you have been multiplying 2 digits by 2 digits, 1 digit by 3 or 4 digits and multiples of 10.

We will choose some and print them out for homework for next week.

REMEMBER, TRY TO MAKE THEM A LITTLE TRICKY FOR YOUR CLASS FRIENDS!

House points and dojos available for all!

Sun, Earth, Moon orbits

Today we made models of the Sun, Earth and Moon’s orbits. Tomorrow we plan to write an explanation of how to make this. Look out for pictures of the end results.

Can you tell me a little about how each of them orbit each other?

Acid Rain Experiment

As part of the John Muir award we have been discussing biodiversity and trying to be more environmentally friendly. We spoke about acid rain, how it is produced and what we can do to try to reduce the amount of fumes and gases that are in our environment.

We set up an investigation to see the impact of acid rain on nature. We also recorded our investigation in our booklets.

During this investigation we also learned about variables and fair testing,

Here are a few photos of what we did. Keep posted for the updates on this investigation.

Fruit Solar System

We had lots of fun making the Solar System using a variety of fruits. In our groups we had to discuss the fruits and then decide which fruit would be which planet according t size. We then had to remember the order of the planets from the sun. We labelled the fruits and then filmed ourselves presenting our conclusions. It was a really fun afternoon. To top if off Mrs Kumar chopped up the fruit and made us all a wee fruit pot! They were delicious!

Can you tell me 3 interesting things that you have learned about the Solar System so far? Try to think of something unusual!
