The Vikings come to P2

Getting the oars ready.

Primary 2 have begun heir new IDL topic of the Vikings – people in the past – and they are really enjoying it already. Vikings have been made, a longship has been drawn, painted and put on wall display. The children made shields to decorate the longship, the rigging is up, the sail has been hoisted and the flag is flying. The children are looking forward to finding out about life in Viking times and we will keep you updated with our progress.

Happy New Year!

Lots of children absent. What were we to do?

It’s now January 2015. Santa has been and gone for another year and Primary 2 wish everyone a happy new year. However, the new session has started off rather badly for our class as many of our children have been unwell. Hopefully, everyone will feel better soon and will be able to resume their studies.  Remember:- wash your hands and keep them free from germs when you cough or sneeze. This will help you stop the spread of germs to others.

The Christmas party

We had a fantastic time at the P1 and P2 Christmas party. Primary 2 looked so good, dressed up in their gorgeous party clothes.

Let’s reveal the excitement…..the P2 children have written their first book. A Christmas book! They have spent a lot of time and effort perfecting them and the finished product is definitely something to be proud o

Hang Mouse is a favourite spelling game on the website.

Using the laptop to help reinforce our phoneme.

Using the reward gems to make “ew” words.

Using glitter paint to make the words.

When the children in P2 learn a new phoneme, we find as many ways as we can of using fun activities to reinforce the sound. Our phoneme this week was “ew” – some of our activities included:- making the words (including our 4 tricky words too) with matchsticks and Miss Bryce’s reward box gems, painting “ew” words with glitter paint and playing “ew” games on the Smartboard, laptop and iPad using the spellingcity.com website. As you can see by the photos, the children had fun learning.
