Empathy Day 2021

Empathy Day took place on 10 June 2021. We created a display of books in the Library and shared some information about empathy, with reading recommendations.

Read to Succeed 2021

Sadly, due to the Covid19 pandemic restrictions and lockdown, we were unable to have our author tour this year. However, we were able to organise a book gift whereby every S1 in North Lanarkshire was awarded a free book. Pupils were asked to choose a book from a long list of new and popular books and these were distributed when we returned to school.

World Book Day 2021

A presentation is availbale in Teams all about how pupils can access World Book Day resources and books online, and ideas on how to celebrate WBD. We also ran a competition quiz for all pupils and congratulations to our winners, Jade, Natalie and Shannon.

Book Week Scotland 2020

This year’s Book Week Scotland was a little quieter than usual due to the pandemic. However, we still held our Book Week Scotland competition on the theme of The Future – congratulations to the winners. Kayleigh was the overall winner and Hannah and Ryan were the runners up. All the entries were displayed in the Library.

Read to Succeed Book Gifting 2020

As part of Read to Succeed 2019/20, pupils were given the opportunity to choose a book from a great selection provided by Glowworm books which they would eventually get to keep. Lockdown played havoc with the supply of the book but we were able to hand these books out to our delighted S1s in September 2020 once we had all returned to school.

Celebration Event

Ten lucky S1 pupils from each high school in North Lanarkshire were invited to St Ambrose High School to witness the celebration event of the 2019/20 Read to Succeed initiative.  Pupils and school librarians listened to the fantastic author, Dan Freedman, former sports journalist and author of the Jamie Johnston series talk about his writing and were gifted a free book by the author.
