Rockfest Battle of the Bands 2018 – SITA
Calderhead High School’s band SITA performed at the recent Rockfest Battle of the Bands competition in Motherwell Concert Hall. As one of the ten bands who passed the initial audition, SITA had to perform a cover song and their own composition. Competition was fierce but the panel of judges, led by BBC’s Vic Galloway, eventually declared Chryston High School rock band ‘Voltage’ to be the winner.
SITA performed in the school during ‘Calderhead’s Got Talent’ and gave a marvellous performance at the Battle of the Bands. We are very proud of all our talented performers. Well done!
Pipe Band Championships 2015
Shotts and Dykehead Pipe Band Championships were held in the school on 7 November 2015. The organisers and participants were delighted with how well the school staff and pupils facilitated the event. Jim Park, the Head of Music Instruction, commented: “I was delighted with the event on Saturday – it went extremely well. I would like to thank you, your staff and pupils for all of the efforts made to ensure the competition went without hitch. The pupils who acted as stewards were amazing and a real credit to the school. Special thanks go to Andrew Lynch who did a fantastic job with all of the sound, lighting and IT side of things. There were a number of parents who spoke to me on the day to say how much they had enjoyed the event and they were very complimentary about the school and the pupils. Your janitorial staff couldn’t have been more helpful and the ladies in the kitchen were fantastic. ”
Alison Gilmour, Organiser of the Shotts and Dykehead Pipe Band, also sent a message of thanks, stating: “…a huge thanks to all of the pupil helpers. They were absolutely fantastic. All of the stewards commented on how helpful the pupils were and I think everybody worked well in their teams. ”
Well done!
