Sad News – Mr Burgess

It is with great sadness that today we mark the loss of Mr Roy Burgess who passed away last night surrounded by his well loved family and friends.

Mr Burgess worked at Calderhead High School for almost 40 years first as Principal Teacher of Chemistry, then as Assistant Head Teacher before taking up the post of Depute Head Teacher of Senior school.

For those of us lucky enough to have known and worked with him he will be remembered as being a great Chemist, an outstanding Teacher, a loyal friend and mentor. A raconteur, a fisherman and above all else a true gentleman.

For the many pupils fortunate enough to have been guided under his tutelage he will be remembered with great fondness for his compassion, his sense of humour, his loyalty and his unfaltering commitment to every pupil at Calderhead High School.

On behalf of all pupils and collegues past and present of Calderhead High School we would like to express our sincere sympathy to Janette, Scott, Linzi and Ivy.
