Calderhead High School operates a close liaison system with all of our associated primaries.

At Calderhead High School, we are committed to ensuring a smooth and supportive transition for our young people as they move from primary to secondary education. Our transition programme begins in Primary 6 and continues through Primary 7, with a strong focus on getting to know each pupil and helping them feel confident and prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.

We offer a wide range of transition activities designed to support both curricular development and pupil wellbeing. These include:

• Curriculum-based sessions delivered by Calderhead High School staff in partnership with primary schools.
• Wellbeing-focused activities aimed at building resilience, confidence, and a sense of belonging.
• Monthly events starting in September, held both in primary schools and at Calderhead High School.

Many members of our staff are actively involved in these sessions, working closely with pupils to build relationships and provide a familiar and welcoming environment. Through these experiences, we aim to ease any anxieties and foster excitement about joining our school community.

We are also pleased to invite parents and carers to an Information Evening on 18th November 2025, where they can learn more about the transition process, meet key staff, and ask questions.
