English

The English department prides itself on the fact that we make learning an active process that involves pupil discussion and values the ideas and opinions given from individuals in the class. It is important that pupils are given the opportunity to enjoy their learning and have a choice in what they study and how they study it.

The English Department focuses on four main elements:

Reading – reading for enjoyment, close reading of short passages and the study of extended literary text.
Writing – creative writing, personal writing, discursive / persuasive writing.
Talking – solo talks, group talks and presentations.
Listening – listening to texts and listening to other members of the class before responding in appropriate ways.

Remote learning

GLOW [https://glow.rmunify.com/]

Pupils who have access to their Glow accounts will find a range of information provided by their own teachers in some of the subject areas that will be very helpful to provide continuity for their learning.  Class teachers may have created a class TEAM to share work directly with the class. If a pupil forgets, or has difficulty with their password for Glow, then parents/carers should contact the school.  We have created a TEAM for each year group. These have been split into channels for each subject.

To access TEAMS on your phone or tablet: download the Teams app then use your Glow email address and glow password to login to the app.  Your Glow email address is your glow login followed by @glow.sch.uk.  Remember that you can also download and install Microsoft office on your home computer by clicking on the Office 365 Home Tab on the Glow homepage.
